I chose the states of California to differentiate from Pennyslvania’s APRN board of nursing regulations. Pennsylvania is under a reduced practice that explains that the law requires that the NP provide patient care only through a regulated collaborative relationship with another health provider or limits some aspects of NP practice. A California nurse practitioner works with physicians instead of entering into a collaborative agreement; NPs must work under a physician’s supervision and adhere to standardized procedures (California Board of Nursing, n.d). On the other hand, NPs are regulated in Pennsylvania under a “collaborative agreement” with physicians to deliver patient care. Another difference is that in California, NPs are not allowed to sign death certificates. Great comparison between Pennsylvania nurse practitioner (NP) regulations and California. I found it interesting the difference between the reduced practice and restrictive practice from state to state, especially that the NP could have access to their supervisory physician via telehealth communication, not necessary face to face. In California, on the other hand their regulation is stricter stating the physician is a more managing and delegating relationship than supervisory. Nurse practitioners in Maine and New Hampshire can also take a course to have the authorization to prescribe buprenorphine like Pennsylvania Comparison between Pennsylvania and Texas APRS board of nursing regulations essay.

The regulations you discussed regarding signing of a death certificate got me curious about regulations in the states I compared.
