In the example in Table 11.1, the range of the distribution is 41, the difference between the high (93) and low (52) scores on the test. Range = highest score − lowest score

A small range indicates a concentrated distribution of scores, while a large range means that the scores are spread out and that some students have not done well on the test. This value gives us a rough idea of the variability of the test scores.
